Tips to pay less interest
- Pay the full statement by the due date = zero interest on purchases.
- If you can't, pay a fixed amount above the minimum and stop using the card until it's cleared.
- Cash withdrawals carry a fee (about 3%) and interest from day one — avoid them.
- Ask your bank about a balance transfer or a lower-rate instalment plan.
Estimates only — assumes no new purchases and on-time payments. Your statement and Key Facts Statement prevail. Rates from banks' published KFS, September 2026.
How to use it
- Enter the balance and the monthly rate (on your statement or your bank's Key Facts Statement).
- See the time and interest paying the minimum, and compare with a fixed payment.
- Choose how many months to finish in, and see the monthly payment.
Questions
Why does the minimum take so long?
The minimum is 5% of the balance, so it shrinks as the balance does — and most of it goes to interest. A fixed payment saves thousands.
Is there a rate cap in the UAE?
No. The Central Bank sets no cap on card rates or the minimum — each bank decides. What is capped is the late fee: AED 230 (241.50 with VAT), and interest on interest is banned.
Why does it differ a little from my bank?
Banks charge interest daily and statement dates vary, so results can differ by about a month. Your statement and Key Facts Statement prevail.
