Questions
Farms irrigate 275 L/day — why is this lower?
ICBA's UAE study (Al-Muaini & Dakheel 2019) measured actual palm water use: 1.5× use (about 210 L/day on moderately saline water) covers needs and leaches salts.
Why less with salty water?
Palms on saline water grow slower and use less — about 65% at 15 dS/m vs 5 dS/m.
Young palms?
No UAE data by age, so figures are scaled by a Qatar study's ratios: 1–5 yrs ≈46%, 6–10 yrs ≈88% of a mature palm.
Fertiliser source?
Farm palms: Qatar Ministry of Municipality programme by age; home palms: Abu Dhabi Tarsheed guide. No official UAE programme is published — ask your emirate's extension service.
