Compare two job offers

Basic salary isn't the whole story: housing, flights, family insurance, school fees, bonus, leave days, working hours, the commute, and end-of-service gratuity, which is calculated on basic only. Put the two offers side by side and see the real annual value, the value per hour, and the gratuity after 5 years.

How to use it

  1. For each offer type the basic and allowances, or the value of provided housing, the number and price of flights, and insurance and school fees if the company pays them.
  2. Add the expected bonus, leave days, working days and hours, and commute minutes a day.
  3. Compare: annual value, the real hourly value (commute included), and end-of-service gratuity after 5 years.

Questions

Why is gratuity calculated on basic?

The labour law calculates it on the last basic wage: 21 days per year for the first five years and 30 days per year after that. An offer with a higher basic and lower allowances pays a bigger gratuity for the same gross.

How do I value company housing?

Type the rent of a similar home if you rented it yourself. If the other offer pays a housing allowance in cash, compare it with the rent you'd actually pay.

Why count the commute?

An hour on the road a day is 250 hours a year of your time and fuel. The tool adds commute time to working hours so the hourly value is honest, and deducts an estimated fuel cost from the value.

Are the numbers uploaded?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and is only kept if you press «Save on my device».
