Questions
What does the 25th percentile mean?
Your child weighs more than 25% of children of the same age and sex, and less than 75%. Anything between 3 and 97 is usually normal — what matters is following roughly the same curve over time.
Why two standards?
Birth to 2 years uses the WHO standards (used by most paediatricians); after 2, the CDC charts, which run to 20 years and include BMI.
A number is out of range?
One number isn't enough to judge. See your paediatrician — they measure accurately and look at the whole curve.
