Degree recognition
Your employer or university asks for an «equivalency»? Pick where your degree is from (inside or outside the country) and its level, and get the whole path: automatic recognition for graduates of 34 UAE universities, otherwise the recognition application at the Ministry of Higher Education and its fee (AED 50 to 200), the attestation chain when required (your country's foreign ministry → UAE embassy → MOFA AED 150), and the distance-learning rules. Documents
Commonly: the original degree · transcript · passport and ID · the verification report or authenticity letter from the approved partner. (Resolution 34/2025 cut the documents from 14 to 4; the official page doesn't name the four — check when applying.)
Note: the Ministry withdraws recognition from non-compliant institutions and publishes alerts; make sure yours isn't among them.
How to use it
- Pick the degree's origin, level and study mode (on campus or distance).
- Read the path: automatic recognition, or the online recognition application with its fee, plus attestation if required.
- Prepare the documents and tap the official service link.
Questions
My degree is from a UAE university — do I need recognition?
Since 16 January 2026 the Ministry grants automatic recognition to graduates of 34 higher-education institutions in the country in the first phase, verified by an approved QR code with no separate application. If your university isn't on the list, apply online for AED 50 for a degree issued inside the country.
What are the fees for a foreign degree?
The Cabinet Resolution 81/2025 schedule: bachelor's or equivalent and below AED 100, master's 150, doctorate 200 per application. Verification fees through the two approved partners (DataFlow and QuadraBay) are added and vary by country and university.
Is an online degree recognised?
Yes, if the institution is accredited by the accreditation body in its country and the set conditions are met — Resolution 34/2025 unified the criterion: a licensed, accredited institution in its country plus verification of the qualification. Before June 2023 fully remote study wasn't recognised. Professional certificates without study and training-course certificates aren't recognised.
What is the attestation chain and when do I need it?
When an employer or government body asks for it: the original is attested by the issuing country's foreign ministry, then the UAE embassy there, then MOFA inside the country (AED 150 for personal documents). It is separate from the recognition requirement itself in Resolution 34/2025.
