Questions
How is this different from normal resizing?
Normal resizing stretches pixels, so the result is blurry. Here the Real-ESRGAN model redraws detail: cleaner edges and less compression noise.
Why does it take a while?
It runs on your device, not on a server. Devices with WebGPU (most recent Chrome) are much faster; others can take a minute or more for large images.
Is there a size limit?
The result can be up to 16 megapixels (for example 4000×4000) so it works on phones. Larger images are reduced first.
Does it fix blurry photos or faces?
It improves sharpness and noise, but it cannot undo heavy motion blur or invent facial detail that isn't there.
