Ask your file

Add a PDF or Word file — a contract, a letter from an authority, a report, a book — and get a summary or ask it anything; the answer comes from the file itself, with the page number.

The file is read on your device; only its text goes to Gemini for the answer, and it isn't stored.

How to use it

  1. Add the file (PDF, Word or text).
  2. Press Summarize or type a question.
  3. The answer comes from the file with its page — keep asking.
  4. Scanned file? It reads it with text recognition first.

Questions

Where does my file go?

The file is read on your device; only its text leaves it — sent to Google's Gemini model to produce the answer, and stored by neither us nor them (Google doesn't train on it). Don't use it for highly confidential files.

How big can the file be?

About 150,000 characters — roughly 60 to 80 pages of text. If it's longer, the first part is used and you're told.

Does it make things up?

It's told to answer from the file only and to say when the answer isn't there. Still, check important figures on the page it cites.

Is there a limit?

30 questions a day per person, free.

Does it read English?

Yes. Ask in Arabic about an English file and get Arabic back, or the other way round.
