Translate a PDF, keep the layout

Translate a PDF from English to Arabic or back: in the same layout (every paragraph in place, images, tables and logos untouched), or as a tidy document in the new language's direction, as PDF or Word.

The file is rebuilt on your device; only its text goes to Gemini for translation, and it isn't stored.

How to use it

  1. Add a PDF.
  2. Pick the direction (chosen for you from the file's language).
  3. Press Translate and wait a moment.
  4. Pick Same layout or Tidy document, and download PDF or Word.

Questions

How is the layout kept?

Each paragraph is read with its position on the page, translated, and written back over the same spot at the same size on the same background colour. Images, lines, tables and logos are not touched.

What's the difference between Same layout and Tidy document?

Same layout writes the translation over the original file, so logos, stamps and colours stay — but the page keeps the original language's direction. Tidy document builds a new file with the headings, paragraphs, bullets and tables in the new language's direction (English from the left, Arabic from the right), which you can edit and download as Word. The first suits contracts and official letters, the second CVs and reports.

Where does my file go?

The file is read and rebuilt on your device. Only its text leaves it — sent to Google's Gemini model for the translation, and stored by neither us nor them. Don't use it for highly confidential files.

Is it a certified translation?

No. It's a machine translation to help you understand a file or prepare a draft. Courts and government transactions need a certified legal translation.

Does it translate scanned files?

No, it needs a PDF with text. For a scan, use Ask your file and ask it to translate.

How big can the file be?

Up to 40 pages per file and about 100 pages a day per person, free.

Can I copy the translated text?

In Tidy document, yes — it's real text. In Same layout the translation sits as an image over the page so Arabic letters join correctly, but a button copies it as text.
